East Hunsbury Parish Council has statutory powers to make funds available to local organisations for the overall benefit of East Hunsbury and its residents.

We will ensure that our grant making is:

  • Open
  • Transparent
  • Fair
  • Competitive
  • Supports priorities and issues faced by East Hunsbury

The document below sets out the guidelines for making a grant and formalises the application process to ensure access, openness and fairness to the groups and organisations we aim to support.

The Parish Council have been pleased to support a number of initiatives in the parish. For details of all grants given please contact the Clerk.

These are some of the amazing projects we have supported:

East Hunsbury Primary School - £1,000 (2024/25 financial year)

Working with the University of Northampton the school have developed Change Maker Team of 13 children. The aim of this team is to 'make a difference' within the school, and they have been raising money through fundraising events at school to create a Quiet Space in the school grounds.

"The grant will go towards the implementation of the Quiet Area. Our design involves shelter and seating and a calm space that can be used by all children within our school.

As Changemakers we believe that having a Quiet Area in the school grounds will allow children to socialise, build friendships, relax, read and simply think. A Quiet Area can also act as a valuable outdoor classroom. Not all children like to run about during play time. Our playground lacks suitable seating, shade or shelter, which is increasingly important to pupils at break and lunchtimes. We would like a Quiet Area to include seating in a sheltered area, with some planting or interest surrounding it."

Christmas Day Lunch for the Lonely - £300 (2023/24 financial year)

This event is held at the Abbey Centre, Overslade Close NN4 0RZ and has been running for 35 years.

The objective is to give Elderly lonely people who have no one to be with on Christmas Day a nice day. Approx 50 'Guests' attend covering NN1 to NN5 postcodes.

The event is run entirely by volunteers from the local community and other areas. Transport is provided, free of charge, by the volunteers as all the preparations and entertainment.

The parish council have been proud supporters of this event since 2019.

East Hunsbury Primary School - £675 and
Wootton Park School - £900 (2022/23 financial year)

East Hunsbury Primary School and Wootton Park School were given grants to enable the purchase of signs and "parking buddies" to highlight the need for considerate and safe parking around their school sites.

South Northants Community Responders - £300 (2021/22 financial year)

To assist with the purchase of replacement batteries for defibrillators.

The Abbey Centre Community Fridge - £1,000 (2021/22 financial year)

The Community Fridge requested a grant of £1,000 to allow them to purchase a glass fronted fridge - this would enable them to store more items of food, giving residents more choice.

The Community Fridge aim to prevent good quality food going to waste. The fridge is a space where everyone can share surplus food including donations from local businesses, producers, households and gardens. It is open to everyone.
