Dear resident,

Flooding in Northampton South

As your Member of Parliament I have closely monitored the ongoing flooding situation across Northampton South. It is estimated that as much as 2 months worth of rain has fallen in our area in 48 hours. The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Steve Reed has visited the constituency to meet the residents and business owners impacted by flooding. I met with the Minister for Flooding to hear first hand the measures that have been put in place. My team are working closely with the various agencies that are on hand to support those impacted. I urge everyone to take extra care when travelling around during this period of heavy rainfall.

For those affected or concerned by the flooding, here are support services that can be contacted:

- Keep up to date with flooding alerts and news by visiting the government's Check for Flooding Service: Northampton, West Northamptonshire flood alerts and warnings - GOV.UK (check-for-flooding.service.gov.uk)

- Weather reports from the Met Office: Northampton (Northamptonshire) weather - Met Office

- West Northamptonshire Council's flooding advice pages for further information and support.

- Environment Agency free Floodline service 0345 988 1188

- Dial 999 or 112 if there is an emergency and you or someone else is in danger.

- Constituents can contact my office on mike.reader@parliament.uk

I will continue to liaise with the authorities on the measures taking place to support those affected by flooding and will share information on my social media channels.

Thank you,

Mike Reader MP
